There probably isn't a long-time horse breeder alive who won't tell you that if they had it to do over again, they would have started with better broodmares. With that advice in mind, we at Far Field have attempted to get the best mares we could find. Our broodmares are selected for performance pedigree, stamina, conformational excellence, good health, athletic ability, disposition, and trainability. After all that we still want them to be good mothers and socialized individuals that will blend with the herd.
The sires of our young stock are chosen for their performance production records. Beyond that we look for correct individuals that will complement the individual mare and also produce in our foals those American Saddlebred characteristics we believe to be most important to preserve in the breed: boldness, stamina, and great enthusiasm in their way of going. |

| In the spring of 2008 we were honored to be offered by Bob Ruxer the American Saddlebred stallion, Commander In Charge (Zovoorbij Commander In Chief x Mrs. Snuffleupagus). Far Field cannot thank Ruxer Farms enough for the opportunity to own this wonderful stallion, as valued for his disposition as a riding horse as he is for his great bloodlines. "Charlie" will be used by Far Field to promote the American Saddlebred in California and to sire outstanding colts from our mares. In addition, we will use artificial insemination as a breeding tool on those mares too closely related to this stallion, enabling us to use stallions from all over the United States. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| WC PARTY TRAIN - World Champion Party Train was trained and shown by Don Harris to a World Championship in 1991 as a 3 year old. She went on to win the Junior Five Gaited World Championship in 1992. She is sired by The Coal Train and is out of Sweetest Dream, a Buck and Wing daughter. This great mare possesses the characteristics we seek in our broodmare: stamina, courage, motion, and a go forward attitude. LITANY
(Attache's Born Believer x Junior Bridesmaid). Litany is a full sister to the exceptional show mare Absolutely Exquisite. She has given us a beautiful black filly this year by It's Hammertime as well as two more fillies by The Mystery Writer and in 2007 a big bay filly by County Treasure. Blood will tell, as breeders so often say, and the offspring of this young mare are proving this to be true. |
