More than 40 years of horse breeding have shown us the importance of disposition, attitude, and trainability in our breeding horses. We constantly strive toward producing foals with a natural desire to move athletically and willingly. The participants in our breeding program are featured on our Broodmares page. Far Field's young horses are raised in what we consider the most favorable manner to help promote future soundness, health, attitude and longevity. Before you look at our prospects, please read about our mission and philosophy. Far Field's show horses are trained by Dr. Alan Raun, Louis Louw, and Jaime Medina at Reedannland in Cumming, IA. We always have others available here at the farm which have not yet reached training age or which may be more suitable and are already trained for sport horse use, trail riding (including competitive and endurance), as well as breeding stock. King's Lady In Black

Performance

King's Lady in Black (Sammy) was shown Western Pleasure as a 3yr. old. She was third (class of 11) at her first show The Illinois State Fair. She was always in the ribbons after that, including two first place ribbons, one of which was a Shatner Buckle. The next year Tom saw his first horse trial and was hooked. He took 'Sammy' to a local h/j trainer to have her try out jumping - and she sailed over them. Next stop was the Hill N Hound horse Trial. Sammy won beginner novice her first time out.
She finished the year with 0ne third, 2 firsts and one second that was also Area IV reserve Champion. Tom won Senior Champ amaturer rider. Not bad for the first year. Sammy was always in the ribbons the following year at training level and will be shown in Prelim this year. She has never missed a cross country jump and was second fastest time in training level at Queeny Park horse trials last year. She has finished in the top three nine of her 12 times in competition. This mare is out of Far Field's broodmare, Swing Time, a daughter of the great show horse Flight Time. 'Sammy' lives near St. Louis, Mo., and she is priced at $40,000.
